All-New Wolverine (2015) Issue #1 Review

There’s a New Wolverine in Town!

What do you do when Wolverine dies? Replace him with his daughter of course! X-23 is back in her new series, and dressed for the part. What’s in store for her? Let’s find out in my review of All-New Wolverine #1!

Laura Kinny is picking up the mantel that Wolverine has left behind. She’s currently in Paris, trying to find out who’s targeting people. When she confronts the attacker, she discovers something alarming, the attacker looks exactly like her. Before the imposter jumps from the top of the Eiffel Tower, she mutters that she cannot feel pain. It’s Laura’s job to figure out who this girl is and why she has her face.

This was a nice introduction to the character of X-23. We get a little flashback to see the evolution of the ravenous weapon that she used to be, to a current hero. We don’t get too much action in this one, it was mainly for staging the characters.

The art is vibrant, and at a point, dreary to match the mood. It was fun to see X-23 don the classic yellow and blue X-men suit.

I’m excited to see what happens to X-23. I personally have not read any of her comics previously, but this is a good jumping on point for any reader.
