I did the usual character creation stuff. Good thing I didn't painstakingly make it look exactly like me, because after all that was said and done, I covered it all up with my cool Samurai armor. I didn’t go too deep into the creator this time around, just picked a preset closest to my actual self and made some general tweaks.
For the longest time, I’ve been a big gamer. It started with video games and I soon adopted tabletop games. Whenever I find interest in something, I like to find the root of that given thing.
Now with the restraints off, I was free to explore the world past level 20. Of course, I stuck to my original pick of Archer. The beautiful, yet scary part about the class system of FFXIV, I can easily switch to whatever I wanted to play at anytime.
The hype train is live and taking over the world! But before that, let’s start at the beginning, my beginning. Being a fan of Pokemon ever since the anime first came out, I was more than ecstatic to play this. I was really hyped when it was announced and even developing jealousy when I saw friends on the early beta/early regions/hacked copies. I refreshed my Play Store constantly around the time it opened up. It was when I was on my commute on the Bart home when I was finally able to download and start my adventure.
After a long day of doing nothing, I logged onto Twitch to watch something. I noticed one of my followed streamers playing FFXIV. Upon further investigation, I learned through the stream that FFXIV offers a free month subscription for trial. Having a previous WOW and FFXI subscription, as much as I loved MMORPGs, paying a monthly fee was what steered me away from ever trying it in the first place. Let alone having the news of it being a bad start before A Realm Reborn. Good thing the free trial doesn’t require a credit card either, so it was all-the-more reassuring to try it out.
One of my big pastimes is videogames. The MMORPG is one of the genres that I find my self on and off of time to time. I’ve had my fill with games like Runescape, Maple Story, FFXI, WOW, and currently, FFXIV. FFXI was the first one that I spent a significant time with. I spent a lot of time with WOW too, but FFXI was a different experience.
