FFXIV Blog #3 - Leveling Up!

Now with the restraints off, I was free to explore the world past level 20. Of course, I stuck to my original pick of Archer. The beautiful, yet scary part about the class system of FFXIV, I can easily switch to whatever I wanted to play at anytime.

Unlike my time with FFXI, leveling up in this game didn’t bind me to killing things as a grind. For a first character, you can easily reach max level by just following the main story quests. In FFXI, I had to spend all my days waiting for experience parties, and grinding in those parties. But because I come from this background, I sometimes like to queue up for dungeon groups while I do random things, a wait that is less daunting than FFXI. Dungeons in this game are fun, because they make you have to think right out of the gates. In WoW, it was pretty much tank n spank until late game. This may not be the best way to level up, but I still find fun in it.

I eventually got some time in with my Archer, eventually Bard, but I like to get distracted easily. In FFXI and this game, I can switch classes on the fly. Because of this ability, I, for some reason, like to level one thing to any given level, then begin to level another at the same time. This was true for me in FFXI when I got several jobs to around level 45, and this is definitely the same for this game. I probably have 4 different jobs that I’m leveling up, a detriment to getting a character to max. But hey, I’m having fun, especially with my short attention span.

At this moment, before the dreaded “End-Game”, there definitely is a lot for me to work on. Next time, I’ll talk about my experience with the ending of the Main Story of A Realm Reborn.
