The Movies, a time-honored tradition of watching things on the big screen, creates memorable moments for all, but for me, it sure does get annoying.
Ever since I found out about The Movies being discounted on Tuesdays, I’ve started watching the more often. I would attend them alone most of the time, to produce content for me site, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate going to them.
When I go alone, I notice a lot of things that contribute to my opinion. Some of them are common and some are just obnoxious at times. People on their phones is easily one of the most distracting. I don’t mind a few times, but when someone’s conversating back and forth with whoever, it gets on my nerves, seeing that glowing screen. It’s just plain ignorant when someone’s on their phone during the PSA to turn off your phone.
I certainly don’t mind some talking, but it can be excessive. When someone reacts to something, that’s okay, but when I hear someone asking their friends question after everything that happens, or when someone’s talking to the screen, that can get annoying.
Whether we’re on a plane or in a movie theatre, we all know that we love the cries of babies. Sometimes it happens, but there are time where the parent doesn’t take the baby out to try and calm them, instead they kill a lot of time trying it inside. I can remember one time where the parent just kept trying and it probably lasted 3-5 minutes.
When people walk in and out of their seats and knocking the back of my seat is understandable. Recently when I was watching Ghostbusters in a full theatre, I somehow had the only seat where the older lady behind me would kick my seat and leave her feet there like she was bracing for impact whenever there was a funny joke. I don’t even know where someone learns that.
Recently, I’ve heard of possible actions to avoid distractions like these from affecting other people’s experiences, which I hope would take place. At least having a pre-designated seating for people that want to play on their phone would alleviate on point for me. Not sure what we could do about the others. I just don’t know why there isn’t much courtesy for other patrons of the movies nowadays. Welp, what can I do, I sure can’t wait to review the next upcoming blockbuster, that’s going to be fun.
