Old Man Logan (2015-) #1 Review

The Old Man is back.

Taking place shortly after the events of the first series, Old Man Logan is back to put an end to the villains of his world. The heroes of his time were all wiped out and over-powered by villains, not to mention the events of Secret Wars is in effect. What is Logan up to now? Let’s find out in “Old Man Logan” #1.

The Old Man Logan saga continues in this Secret Wars series. We find Logan breaking into a poker game of what seems to be old friends Iron Man and Daredevil, but turn out to be some common thugs. In this world, all of the heroes have been wiped out, and their images are all that remain. We soon are introduced to Logan’s companions, the baby Hulk that he saved in the previous series, and Luke Cage’s daughter. Logan also runs into old ally, Emma Frost, but everything about her is not what it seemed. From here, Logan continues his journey to stop this world’s villains.

Old Man Logan vol. 1 was one of the craziest books I have read. Vol. 2 sets out to continue the series, a difficult feat. The series was very gritty and graphic and this book does well to convey the same mood. However, the book is a little slow after the initial action scene. The art is nice and defined. The colors are the highlight for me. The palette they use really puts us in the barren wasteland theme.

This is a cool book. It’s got some big big shoes to fill though. If you haven’t read first book, go back and read that. Read this is you want, but it’s only okay so far.
