Giant Size Little Marvel: AvX (2015-) #1 Review

AvX Cuteness has returned!

Secret Wars is underway, and one of domains, Marville, is the stage for an all out war between the X-babies and A-babies! Unlike the horrible battles being fought in other domains, this one is just adorable!

Spinning off of the Avengers vs. X-men event a few years ago, the A-babies and X-babies are at it again in this new on-going series. To my knowledge, they first began their conflict in their one-shot, A-Babies vs. X-babies, with Skottie Young and Gurihiru as it’s creators. Young is back to tell their day-to-day fight doing writing and art this time around. In this first issue, you’ll find the opposing sides fighting over who has the best food truck. Their antics play off of their characters in a fun way. Whether it’s Storm raining on the A-babie’s parade, or Ironman building the high-tetchiest truck, there are shenanigans to be had.

If you have ever seen “Baby” covers of your favorite Marvel books, you’ll find that art here. Skottie Young is the man behind all of the cute covers, and all of those characters are in this book. Young’s art differs from Gurihiru’s, but that isn’t a big issue. Both artists have their own take on the babies, each well executed.

I had a great time reading this book. I laughed a lot! This is a great book to have in-between more “serious” books in my pull list.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is a fan of Avengers and/or X-men. It brings in a breath of fresh air to your reading, whether you’re an adult or child. Pick up your copy today! Try to read the one-shot as well if you can, you wouldn’t regret it!
