“Doing it big at the Nutcracker Ball.”
As Ethan and his friends reach adulthood, they outgrow their Christmas tradition. The boys agree to celebrate one last time. What happens on their last night of debauchery? Let’s find out in my review of The Night Before.
After losing his parents, Ethan and his friends, Isaac and Chris form a Christmas Tradition after a night out on the town. Upon reaching adulthood, Ethan and the gang decide it’s time to celebrate the last year of the tradition and proceed on with their personal lives. Isaac is starting a family, while Chris is now a big time football player. One previous year, the boys learn of a crazy party that’s thrown, but is almost impossible to get an invite. After stealing some tickets, the boys are on their way to the biggest party ever, but getting there is a whole other story.
This was a fun movie to watch, but at the end of the day, it’s pretty much another stoner comedy. The Seth Rogan scenes are pretty funny, because it’s his usual humor that you would see in any of his other movies. Anthony Mackie’s story is a little underdeveloped. If they didn’t remind us of his problem, I probably would have forgotten what it was about. Fitting three character stories in a stoner comedy must have been hard.
If you like all other stoner comedies, this is for you. There are a couple of funny cameos in there too. You may not want to watch with your family though, it can be a little racy. Check it out if you want.
