Inside Out (2015) Review

“What if your feelings had feelings?”

Everyone in this world has feelings. Pixar has gone out of the box with their latest film by portraying feelings as individual characters. What happens when feelings have feelings? Let’s find out in Pixar’s “Inside Out.”

The story starts at the beginning of Riley’s (Kaitlyn Dias) life. At the same time, we are introduced to her first feeling, Joy (Amy Poehler). As Riley grows up around Minnesota, she develops memories associated with several other feelings: Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). These feelings operate within Riley’s mind, in the form of a command station. Core memories are special ones that help define Riley. These memories form islands connected to the station. When Riley’s family makes a move to San Francisco, her memories start to go awry after an incident involving the core memories. Now it’s up to Joy and Sadness to fix the core memories.

This film is amazing! It was a rollercoaster of emotions. I never thought of this concept before, and I commend Pixar for a job well done. As I was going through the film, each reimagining of the human mind was very clever, that I suggest you watch it for your self. The jokes were so funny, especially the one involving a dream boyfriend. All of the acting was done well. It was a great idea to use actors that usually portray that given feeling.

Anyone and everyone should watch this. I can’t wait to buy this on blu-ray.
