Gweenpool (2016-) #01 Review

Another Alternate Gwen Stacy and This One’s a Keeper

Remember when we were introduced to an alternate universe’s Gwen Stacy, who was bit by a radiactive spider instead of Peter Parker? Remember how much everyone loves Deadpool? Well what happens when another Gwen Stacy pops up into the new Marvel Universe? Let’s find out in my review of Gwenpool #01.

Gwenpool used to be a comic book reader like all of us, but somehow ends up in this world and is trying to get with the times of being a hero in NYC. The thing is about Gwen is that she doesn’t have any powers aside knowing everything about everyone she read about before she was sucked into that world. In this issue, we get two different stories. The first is about her first day on the job as she tries to stop bank robbers but get’s arrested her self. The following story is her big gig in stopping alien arm’s dealers.

Like Deadpool, Gwenpool likes to break the walls of the universe throughout her journeys. It’s fun that she doesn’t have any powers but has the spunk to try to fit in. It’s like if we were sucked into our favorite video games. I was really liking the second stories artist, the one who did the cover art. I have a soft spot for anime-looking art and hopefully that pulls a whole audience as well.

Were you a fan of Spider-Gwen? Are you a fan of Deadpool? Do you like the anime/manga art style? If you said yes, you would definitely love this book. Go check it out!
