Loki has been pruned and is in the presence of more of his Variants. Although they’re not dead yet, an ominous cloud is on its way to wipe anything from existence. Will a bunch of conniving tricksters band together to survive?

We’ve reached the penultimate, and I was getting a little worried about that election Loki that was in the trailers. We were all patiently waiting and wondering where an election arc was coming in. Maybe that’s why I don’t like watching them, most of the time, but now it makes sense.

***Warning: Spoilers***

More Variants is the answer. At first, I thought it was just going to be the ones teased in the stinger in the previous week, but we got a couple more thrown in. Most of them weren’t elaborated on, not even all of the ones previously teased. I’d be lying if I didn’t have to look up if the one with the hammer was a Loki or Thor. The upside of the Variants though, is that Alligator Loki is one of them. Who knew have the Loki horns strapped to an a gator was something I needed.

There were some great moments in this episode, like Silvie’s self-pruning, and Classic Loki’s Han Solo act. The big disembodied force didn’t work as well. It felt like a confusing sequence to get the action meter up a bit. We lost the strength of the actors putting on a show for this moment. Even in his short appearance, Classic Loki gave a great performance, only to be possibly ended by this cloud. I think they could have done something more clever.

This was a fun episode, seeing Lokis interact with each other. Given the short length of the series, it did feel like things were rushed a bit in this one. I’m a bit cautious about how things will wrap up in one more episode. Let’s hope they end strong.

Recap

+ Great Performances All Around
+ Fun Story Twists and Turns
- Fight Sequence is a bit Unwieldy
