Movie Pass experienced an outage of service on July 26th, 2018. This was attributed to the fact that the company ran out of money and not a technical malfunction with the app. In an attempt to get the service back up and running, the company had to borrow $5 million. To help support its $9.99 subscription plan, surge pricing was recently introduced.
