After last week’s sudden announcement of Daniel Dae Kim and co-star, Grace Park’s exit from Hawaii Five-O over contract disputes regarding inequality of pay, Kim is speaking up on the matter.
"Though I made myself available to come back, CBS and I weren't able to agree to terms on a new contract, so I made the difficult choice not to continue,"
This all stems from their problem with their contracts being 10-15% less than their co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan. The big issue is that this inequity is presumed to be over their ethnicity as actors of Asian descent.
"The path to equality is rarely easy, but I hope you can be excited for the future. I am."
Kim played played Lt. Chin Ho Kelly for the first 7 seasons. “Hawaii Five-0” is expected to return for an 8th season this Fall.
