Here is Idol Rumble’s catered list of K-pop new releases for the week of 3/19/2023. You can access the full playlist on the top right of the video.
Rob’s Pick of the Week
Bobby - Drowning ft. SOLE
Outside of Kingdom, I have never really followed iKon. This was the only song on the list that had me bobbing my head to the beat. This combo of pop, funk, disco, and r&b is a genre that I like a lot. You’re also telling me the SOLE is on this? This song certainly wasn’t on my BINGO card this week.
Rob’s Second Pick of the Week
Jimin - Like Crazy
Rob with a BTS pick?! Well this one appealed to me. Yes, the city pop is a big factor. It’s one of the most well rounded picks out of the crop this week. Liked it from start to end. That little guitar part that opens and closes the song is a nice touch.
Rob’s Third Pick of the Week
NMIXX - Love Me Like This
Pretty big quantity of catered picks this week, so why not a 3rd pick. I didn’t give NMIXX the honor last week with their pre-release, but they’re here now. Not the biggest fan of this 90s hip hop soundtrack vibe, but it’s catchy. The dance is fun, and the vocal line had a field day during their parts. The outro is tons of fun (currently the most replayed section of the MV on Youtube). I was cool on NMIXX at first, but they’re going up on my list.
Rob’s Fourth Pick of the Week
Sweet Sorrow & Hiko - It Must Be Love
Four picks, and you can’t stop me. Love the motown feel of this one. It makes me want to go and listen to Mayer Hawthorne again. Tis thee vibe.
Rob’s Fifth Pick of the Week
Achii - 2AM
Yup, five picks. This one just puts me in my 80s music feels. Makes me remember all those times that I had The Deele - Two Occasions on repeat. Nostalgia.
